Eyelid surgery reduces excess skin from the upper eyelids and reduces bagginess from lower eyelids. This surgery is usually done for cosmetic reasons. However, upper eyelid surgery can also improve sight when drooping upper eyelids get in the way of vision.
As skin ages, it loses its elasticity. Gravity also is a constant pull. Both cause the excess skin on your upper eyelid to sag over eyelashes. This can block your vision.
Eyelid Surgery
This simple surgery is done on an outpatient basis.
- The surgeon makes a small incision along the natural line of your upper eyelid.
- Excess fat, muscle and tissue are removed through this incision.
- The incision is closed with tiny stitches.
- Stitches are gone within a week; your eyelids should look normal within a week or two.
